Essential characteristics of our goods and services

Formation of a contract

The presentation of our products in our online shop does not constitute a binding offer.

The exact point at which a contract between you and us comes into effect depends on the payment method:

Bank Transfer

After we have received your order, we will send you a separate email to confirm your order. Once you receive this email, the contract has come into effect. In this email, we will provide you with our bank details. Please transfer the total amount to this account.

PayPal and Credit Card

After completing your order, you will be redirected to the PayPal website. Here, you can choose whether to pay directly via PayPal or with a credit card. On the next page, you need to either enter your PayPal login details or your credit card information. The contract is formed once your payment has been credited to our account.

Reservation of performance

If a product you’ve ordered is permanently unavailable, we reserve the right not to accept your offer or to withdraw from the contract.

Prices and delivery

Prices in our online shop are gross prices, including the statutory VAT. Additional shipping costs may apply. You can find an overview of the shipping costs here.

Where can I buy 8bar bikes products?

Our products are available online at 8bar-bikes.com, in our Berlin showroom, and through select 8bar dealers.

How do I place an order in the online shop?

On our website, www.8bar-bikes.com, you can choose from a range of products. By clicking the “ADD TO CART” button, you place the item in a virtual shopping cart. You can view your cart at any time by clicking the “CART” button.

Clicking the “CART” button takes you to your shopping cart, where you can change the quantity of your item or remove it from your cart. At this point, you can select your shipping method and calculate the shipping costs.

If you are satisfied with your settings, click “PROCEED TO CHECKOUT.”

Please enter your billing and shipping address so we know where to send your products. Further down, you can choose between bank transfer, PayPal, credit card, or pickup in our showroom.

If you’re happy with your settings, click “PLACE ORDER.” After you place your order, you’ll receive an automatic email confirming your order details.

How do I find the right bike or frame size?

How do I find the right bike for me?

I live outside the EU; can I order without paying German VAT?

If you choose delivery as the shipping method:

If you live in a non-EU country, you can order without paying German taxes. Simply select your country in the delivery address, and taxes will be deducted at checkout.

We cannot provide information about import duties in your country. You are responsible for any duties and taxes that may be imposed.

If you export the bike yourself outside the EU (bought here in Berlin or shipped to a German address near the border):

If you organize the export yourself, we will refund the German VAT after you submit a stamped export certificate from German customs. This can be scanned and sent to us by email.

Incorrect prices on the website

Our website automatically calculates prices based on your location. However, due to browser settings, etc., our website may not always immediately recognize your location. To ensure you’re shown prices with the correct VAT, simply go to checkout and enter your shipping address.

Status of online order

Ensure your order is within the lead time specified by us. Exact information on lead and delivery times can be found here.

If your order is within the specified time frame, please be patient. Your order is being processed, and we are doing our best to get it to you as quickly as possible.

Item status

Out of stock: The item has been ordered and will soon be available again.

Pre-order: The item is in production or being replaced by a successor and can be pre-ordered. Please note the expected delivery date.

Custom Paint Job

We offer custom designs where you can choose the frame and fork color (excluding carbon) and the finish.

Our custom colors are created with a high-quality powder coating. You can select from all RAL Classic (www.ralcolor.com) and Prismatic Powder (www.prismaticpowders.com) colors.

The additional cost for this option is listed with the corresponding model. Simply select the “Custom Paint” option when choosing the color.

Please note that the delivery time for custom-painted frames may be delayed by 2-6 weeks.

Custom Build

It is generally possible to install your own or alternative components on your bike. However, due to the extra work involved in installing components that are not available in the configurator, we need to charge an additional assembly fee.

Omitting Components

It is generally possible to finish your bike yourself and use your own components. To do this, simply select the “no xxx” option in the configurator. However, please be aware that we might not be able to optimally set everything up if you omit certain components.

For example, it’s not possible to properly adjust the shifting and brakes if you don’t choose wheels or handlebars.

If the “no xxx” option is not selectable, it means that this part cannot be removed.

When ordering online, you can choose your payment method during checkout. The options available to you are bank transfer, credit card, PayPal, installment payments, bike leasing, or cash payment upon pickup. In the 8bar Berlin showroom, you can pay in cash or with a debit or credit card.

14-Day Return Policy

You can withdraw from your contract within 14 days of receiving the goods by notifying us in writing via letter or email. The deadline for notifying us is the date of the communication. The return must be made promptly, no later than 7 days after the notification. If more than 14 days have passed since you received the goods, we can no longer offer a refund or exchange.

This right does not apply to custom bicycles!

Since we built your bike according to your specifications and can’t sell it as is, we can’t accept the return of a defect-free, custom-made bicycle. However, if after receiving your custom-built bicycle you find no defects but still consider returning it, we offer a refund of 60% of the purchase price (excluding shipping costs). This option is available to you within 14 days of receiving the goods.

Returning or Exchanging an Item?

Requirements

To be eligible for a return, the item must be unused and in the same condition as when you received it. It must also be in its original packaging.

You will need to cover the shipping costs for the return.

In the event of a valid revocation, both parties must return the received services.

Once we have received and inspected your return, we will notify you by email. In this notification, we will let you know whether your refund has been approved or rejected.

If the return is approved, the refund will be issued automatically within 14 days, according to your original payment method.

Cancelling an Item

If you need to cancel your order, please send an email to 8bar@8bar-bikes.com and include your order number. We will promptly cancel your order.

The credit will be automatically issued to your credit card or original payment method.

If your item has already been shipped, you can use your right of return and send it back to us within 14 days (see section 5. Returns, Claims & Exchanges).

Cancelling a Complete Bike

Please note that our bikes are made to order. We will begin processing your order once payment is received.

Once the manufacturing process has started, labor and material costs are incurred. Unpaid orders will not be processed.

If you want to cancel your order:

  • within 24 hours of payment, you will receive a refund of 95% of the purchase price and full shipping costs.
  • within 7 days, you will receive a refund of 90% of the purchase price and full shipping costs.
  • within 28 days (or if it is not yet in assembly), you will receive a refund of 80% of the purchase price and full shipping costs.

but your bike is already in assembly, you will receive a refund of 75% of the purchase price and full shipping costs.

If you need to cancel your order, please send an email to 8bar@8bar-bikes.com and provide your order number and phone number. We calculate the cancellation time based on when we receive your email.

Modifying an Order

After payment, you will receive an order confirmation email. If your order has not been shipped or your bike is not yet in assembly, we can make adjustments free of charge.

If you want to adjust something during the assembly of your bike, additional costs may apply.

Pickup from the Showroom

You are welcome to pick up your products from our showroom. Simply select “Pickup from 8bar showroom” during the checkout process.

How is my bike shipped?

All bikes are assembled and packed by hand by our experienced staff at 8bar. Once you receive your bike, you’ll need to straighten the handlebars, and assemble the front wheel and pedals. The necessary accessories are shipped with your order. However, be sure to check all screws and assembled parts before your first ride. If you’re unsure, consider having your bike checked at a local bike shop.

Exception: Bikes shipped internationally (outside Europe) cannot be shipped fully assembled due to package size regulations; they are shipped as kits for self-assembly.

My package arrived damaged; what should I do?

When you receive the package, please check immediately for any external damage. If there’s visible damage, refuse the delivery!

If the delivery person has already left or if the package was left with a neighbor, please take photos of the external damage. Carefully open the package and take photos of the inside before removing any contents.

Please send photos of the damaged item, the damaged packaging, and the shipping label to 8bar@8bar-bikes.com.

Create a Customer Account

To create a customer account, go to “My Account” at the top of the page and then click on “Register.”

Fill out all the fields and choose a password. Then, confirm your information.

When you log in with us in the future, you will be asked for your password and email address.

In your customer account, you can view or edit your details at any time. Of course, we adhere to applicable data protection regulations and do not share your information with third parties.

How do I log in?

Go to “My Account” (the icon at the top of the page) to log into your customer account. Simply enter your email address and password to log in. If you are not yet a customer, just click on “Register” under “My Account” to create an account with us.

How do I log out?

To log out, click on the “My Account” icon. A menu will appear, and you can click “Log Out.”

My orders

Log in to track your orders. In your customer account, under “Orders,” you will find an overview of the items you have ordered. Unfortunately, the current order status cannot be viewed in the customer account.

I forgot my password

If you have forgotten your password, you can have a new one sent to you by clicking on “Forgot password” at login. After receiving the new password from us, you can change it in your account.

Warranty

In addition to the legally required two-year warranty, 8bar frames come with a five-year manufacturer’s warranty against manufacturing defects.

It covers material and labor costs for:

  • Breakage
  • Frame malfunctions
  • For all other 8bar parts, the legally mandated two-year warranty applies.

General Warranty Conditions

The seller claims all legally permissible liability exclusions and limitations from the present terms that deviate from the legally established warranty under national law.

The buyer acknowledges and accepts these conditions.

This warranty can only be used by the original owner of the bike and is non-transferable. The warranty is fulfilled at our discretion by replacing or repairing the recognized defective parts using identical or comparable parts, depending on the current state of technical development.

Work carried out under the warranty does not extend the warranty period unless national legislation specifies special provisions in this regard.

Our liability is expressly limited to the above-defined warranty.

Shipping costs for returns are borne by the buyer. If the warranty claim is accepted by 8bar bikes, the cost of reshipping will be covered by 8bar bikes.

Terms of Application

The warranty can be claimed provided that

  • the damage is not due to lack of care, improper use, even temporary overload, user inexperience, or insufficient caution during transport
  • the damage is not due to a fall
  • the bike has been properly maintained

The Warranty Does Not Cover

  • Maintenance tasks (lubrication, adjustments) or wear due to normal use (tires, brake pads, chain, freewheel, sprockets, cables, seals, hydraulic oil, bearings, etc.)
  • Frame dropouts – Paint defects (paint chips and color changes)

Where Can I Get a Bike Inspection/Repair Done?

Bike inspections/repairs can be carried out either in our showroom, in a workshop of your choice, or by yourself.

How do I find the right bike or frame size for me?

To help you choose the right frame size, please follow these steps:

Check our size recommendations: At the bottom of every bike and frame page, you’ll find size recommendations for each model. Use these as a starting point, based on your height and inseam.

Consider your body proportions: If you have long legs and a short torso, we recommend the smaller frame size. Conversely, if you have short legs and a long torso, we suggest the larger frame size.

Pay attention to the minimum inseam length: It’s crucial that your inseam always meets the minimum length for the frame size. This ensures adequate clearance and a comfortable ride.

If you have further questions or are unsure, please don’t hesitate to email us. Let us know the model you’re interested in, your height, inseam, and your preferred type of riding (touring, bikepacking, city, etc.).

What if my size isn’t shown?

To check if the item is no longer available in your size, reset the color by clicking “Choose an option” in the dropdown menu. This will show you which sizes are still available.

If your size is still not available, it means your desired item is sold out, and we will not receive any more stock. We appreciate your understanding.

How do I measure correctly?

To determine your inseam, you’ll only need a book and the help of a second person.

Stand barefoot with your back against a wall. Hold the book between your legs with the spine’s highest point or a level touching the floor. The distance from the book’s spine or the level to the floor is your inseam. Make sure your feet are together and your legs are fully extended. If you’re wearing shoes, it’s recommended to subtract 1-2 centimeters from the measured length.

Can I Pick Up My Order in the Showroom?

If you selected “Pickup from Showroom” during your online order, you can collect your order from the showroom.

You will be notified when your order is ready for pickup.

Can I Reserve Items?

What Do I Need to Know About Exchanges?

Our showroom has a 14-day return policy.

A Note Specifically for Bike Orders

All bikes are exclusively assembled and adjusted by experienced technicians at 8bar bikes. When you receive your delivery, you usually only need to align the handlebars, install the wheels, and screw on the pedals. We provide the necessary tools. However, please check all bolts and attachments before your first ride.

Exception: Due to package size regulations, bikes shipped worldwide (outside of Europe) are sent as kits for self-assembly.

What Torque Should I Use to Tighten the Bolts?

In the torque table, you’ll find all the information on how tight you should tighten the bolts.

  • Dropouts / Sliders: 16 Nm
  • Stem: 5 – 6 Nm
  • Seatpost: 8 – 11 Nm
  • Saddle: 12 Nm
  • Rim brake: 8 – 10 Nm
  • Handlebar: 5 – 6 Nm
  • Crankset:
    • Shimano: 12 – 14 Nm
    • 8bar SUPER: 40 Nm
    • 8bar MEGA, GIGA: 12 – 14 Nm (excluding the compression bolt)
    • SRAM DUB: 54 Nm
  • Bottom bracket: 50 Nm
  • Thru-axle: 8 – 12 Nm
  • Pedals: 35 – 40 Nm
  • Disc brake caliper: 6 – 8 Nm

Tools for Assembling My Bike

Your bike is delivered pre-assembled. Typically, you just need to align the handlebars and install the pedals (if they were ordered). Each bike comes with a multitool, allowing you to complete this easily.

Pedal Assembly

It’s important to note that the right pedal has a right-hand thread, and the left pedal has a left-hand thread. The pedals are labeled accordingly, with “R” for right and “L” for left. These directions refer to the perspective in the direction of travel.

Fenders

To find out if fenders can be mounted, click “More Info” on the respective product. For models where traditional fender mounting isn’t possible, there are various fenders that can be attached directly to the seat stays.

Tire Width

Depending on the model, different tire widths can be installed. To find out the maximum tire width allowed, click “More Info” next to the frame in the bike or frameset configurator.

Test ride

You’re welcome to schedule a test ride at our showroom. You can find out the availability of your desired model in your size by phone or email. Generally, test rides are limited to 30 minutes. Please check by phone at +49 30 2095 4518 or by email at showroom@8bar-bikes.com to confirm whether the model you want in your size is currently in the showroom.
