8bar Crit 2020 – Register now!
EDIT: March 16th, 2020 Dear 8bar crit riders, unfortunately and after the VELO Berlin has been cancelled due to the Corona Virus containment, we also have to postpone the 8bar Crit 2020! We’re very sorry about that, but we do also understand that this was necessary! BUT: We don’t wanna cancel the event for this year and are trying to find a new date for the 8bar crit after things have calmed down a bit, probably later this summer. All tickets that have already been sold remain valid. Stay tuned, stay healthy and we will inform you as soon as possible! Thx for your understanding! On April 18, 2020 the 8bar Crit 2020 will return to the former airport Tempelhof and will take place during VELO Berlin bike show right next to the former airport building. The fast and technically challenging course makes the 8bar Crit 2020 an unforgettable experience for riders and spectators. The registration for riders and helpers will open on February 5th, 2020 and is open until April 13th, 2020.
The 8bar Crit 2020 takes place during VELO Berlin bike show. For riders and volunteers the ticket for the show is inclusive. INFORMATION The 8bar Crit 2020 is a fixed gear bike race, which takes place on a fast and technical course of about 1km length. All participants must ride a fixed gear bike without brakes. This combination is challenging because not only speed and power is required from everyone, but also intelligent racing behaviour. To get a feeling for the 8bar Crit, take a look at this video from last years race. The 8bar Crit is not just any race. It is the biggest fixed gear race in Germany.
This year we are making some adjustments to the racing modes. The course will be more technical than ever before. There will be no qualifying. Riders can register directly for the A and B race. All those who were in the top 40 in the A race last year MUST start in the A race. There is a maximum of 80 starting places for the A race and another 80 starting places for the B race. From 20 starters on, there will also be an A and B race for women. Warm-up: Open for all riders to get to know the race track. Quarter and semi-finals: The quarter and semi-finals will each have 10 laps. There are 20 riders starting per run. Each lap the last rider is eliminated until only 10 remain. Crit final: The finals will be 19 laps each. It will be raced as long as there is only one rider left

The 8bar crit will be held within the VELO Berlin bike show program on Tempelhofer Feld. While the VELO is running inside the old terminal building we will occupy the field in front and bring you exciting race action! There are two subway stations close to this years location: Platz der Luftbrücke and Alt-Tempelhof. If you are getting there by car: there will be an official parking slot which will cost around 9€ or you can find free parking spots around “Columbia Damm”. All riders have to access the area via the back of the location directly to the race area, where we will perform bike checks etc. More information will follow in your rider briefings that you will receive shortly before the race.
The course is technical with sharp turns and hairpins and a total length of 1000m. It is located on the Tempelhoferfeld in Berlin.
